A Journey Towards a Career in Sustainability: Merging Preparation, Purpose, and Passion

Throughout my life, I've held a deep desire to make a meaningful difference in the world. Early on, I expressed this passion through ministry and mission work. More recently, I've dedicated time to volunteer work. Now, I've come to realize that my path forward lies in a profession centered around Sustainability. I'd like to share why I believe this transition aligns perfectly with my lifelong aspirations.

A Foundation of Purpose: My journey began with a strong sense of purpose in ministry and mission work. These experiences instilled in me the importance of compassion, service, and making a positive impact on people's lives.

Extensive Program and Project Management Experience: Over the years, I've grown professionally as a Program Manager at renowned companies like AMC Networks, NBC Universal, Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution, and ViacomCBS. These roles have provided me with the skills and expertise necessary to manage complex initiatives and build teams effectively, just as a minister builds and guides a congregation.

Global Perspective: I not only speak Portuguese fluently but have also lived and worked in Brazil twice. These experiences have deepened my understanding of different cultures and the importance of a global perspective in addressing sustainability challenges.

Certifications and Education for Service: My commitment to professional development is evident through certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), and ITIL Foundation. These credentials underscore my dedication to applying industry best practices in my work. My educational journey includes both a Bachelor of Ministry (BMin) and a Master of Arts in Management (MA) with a focus on Project Management, reflecting my dedication to preparing myself to serve others for a greater purpose.

Volunteer Experience: Beyond my professional life, I've devoted time to volunteer work, including founding Uberlândia Development Initiatives and serving as a Trustee at Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the power of responsible corporate citizenship.

A New Passion Emerges: As I look ahead to the future, I'm excited about transitioning into Sustainability as a profession. It's not just a job change; it's a merging of my passion for making a difference with my professional expertise. Sustainability allows me to address global challenges, such as climate change and social equity, through responsible business practices.

In conclusion, while I currently thrive in IT program management and find immense satisfaction in it, my unwavering passion for sustainability and corporate social responsibility continues to drive me, much as I have tried to do so in ministry and volunteer work. I am determined in my commitment to make a meaningful impact on our world. As I navigate my career in IT, I will actively seek opportunities to merge my expertise with my sustainability goals, paving the way for a future where responsible corporate citizenship and sustainability are at the forefront of my journey.
